We support development projects and initiatives with situational analyses, stakeholder mapping, strategic and operational planning, developing and implementing activities, evaluation and communication of results.

Implementing ‘BioInnovation Africa’

Since the summer of 2019, GeoMedia and our partner UEBT have been supporting GIZ in managing and implementing “BioInnovation Africa”. The project promotes equitable benefit sharing from the use of biological and genetic resources by fostering African-European business partnerships along selected value chains.

As a first step, we assisted the four African countries involved in the project – Cameroon, Madagascar, Namibia and South Africa – to identify relevant stakeholders and their needs, design the specific national implementation approaches, and plan milestones, activities and budgets. At the same time, a call for expressions of interest led to twenty industry partnerships – out of seventy applications – that were identified for co-operation in the project.

Since then, we have supported the establishment of value-chain related partnerships, contributed to the development of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) of African SMEs and Cooperatives with European business partners, and helped involve relevant government agencies in the four countries.

GeoMedia also manages the pool of more than twenty subject-matter specialists for this project who, on demand by partners, are able to provide expert input and advice on a wide range of technical issues.
